Why this works

Built on principles from Speech-Language Pathology

Language-specific phonetics

Every exercise targets the specific sounds and patterns that Hindi/Urdu speakers find hardest. No wasted time on sounds you already have.

Physical method

You learn exactly where to place your tongue, lips, and jaw — not "listen and repeat" guesswork. Real phonetic instruction.

Small cohort (max 10)

Capped at 10 participants so every person gets real practice time and feedback — not a passive lecture.

8-Week Curriculum

What you'll work on each week

  1. 1

    Foundation: Hindi/Urdu and English Phonology

Compare the sound systems of Hindi/Urdu and English. Identify areas of overlap and the key differences that require targeted practice.

  2. 2

Retroflex Consonants vs. English Alveolar Sounds

Hindi and Urdu use retroflex consonants (tongue curled back) that English does not. Learn to move your tongue forward to the alveolar ridge for English /t/, /d/, /n/, and /l/.

  3. 3

    Aspiration Patterns

Hindi and Urdu distinguish aspirated and unaspirated stops; English does too, but the rules are different. Learn when English /p/, /t/, and /k/ require a puff of air and when they do not.

  4. 4

    Consonant Clusters

English frequently begins and ends words with multiple consonants in a row. Build accuracy and fluency with the clusters that Hindi and Urdu speakers find most challenging.

  5. 5

    Vowel Quality and Length

English has a larger and different set of vowels than Hindi or Urdu. Practice distinguishing and producing vowel contrasts that do not exist in your native language.

  6. 6

    English Intonation Patterns

Learn the intonation contours of English statements, questions, and lists. Understand how pitch movement conveys meaning and helps you sound natural.

  7. 7

    Stress Timing and Rhythm

English stresses certain syllables and words and reduces others. Practice the stress-timed rhythm that makes English flow naturally and sound fluent.

  8. 8

    Connected Speech and Professional Communication

Integrate all skills into real-world speech. Practice linking sounds, reducing function words, and speaking fluently in professional and everyday contexts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the workshop

How do I know which workshop is right for me?

Choose the workshop based on your native language. If you grew up speaking Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese), join the Chinese speakers workshop. The same applies for Hindi/Urdu, Spanish, or Arabic. Schedule a free consultation if you're not sure which group fits best.

I've had pronunciation classes — how is this different?

These classes are taught by an experienced English instructor and trained accent coach currently completing a Master's degree, with a professional foundation in speech therapy. That combination — classroom expertise, phonetic knowledge, and therapeutic understanding — is rare. It means you get instruction that is both academically sound and practically effective.

What if I speak multiple languages?

Select the workshop for the language you spoke first or the one you're most comfortable with. Your first language typically has the strongest influence on your English pronunciation patterns.

Do I need a certain English level to join?

You should have at least an intermediate level of English (B1-B2 or CLB 5). If you can hold basic conversations in English but struggle with pronunciation and being understood, these workshops are perfect for you.

What if I miss a session?

All sessions are recorded and shared with participants, so you can review what you missed. However, live attendance is strongly encouraged for the interactive practice and real-time feedback.

Can I switch to 1-on-1 coaching later?

Absolutely! Many students start with group workshops and later add or switch to 1-on-1 coaching for more personalized attention. You can discuss this option during your free consultation or anytime during your workshop participation.

Do you use the "shadow method"?

No. Accent coaching that relies only on "listen and repeat" is limited by what it can't explain. True pronunciation instruction means understanding how sounds are formed — the placement of the tongue, the shape of the lips, the role of breath and jaw position. With a background in speech therapy and phonetics, these classes go far beyond imitation. You'll learn exactly what your mouth needs to do, and why.
